When looking for a new mobile contract it is really important that you understand the tariff you are on, this doesn’t just mean how many minutes, texts and data you have but what is and isn’t included in those allowances. For most contracts calls to 01, 02, 03 and 07 numbers are normally included in your allowance and this is the same for text messages. Calls to voicemail, your network provider and 0800,0808 and 0500 numbers are sometimes included depending on the provider (they are included with BT). Calls t emergency services 999 and 112 are free on all providers.
On the other hand, calls to any other 08 or 09 numbers are not usually included, although some companies do give you the option to purchase an add on for some 08 numbers, but these can be very pricey. Calls to 0844 numbers on BT cost 30p per minute and are charged per second, this is on the lower end of the market. You will also have to pay the service connection charge that is set by the owner of the phone number (i.e the company you are phoning) so make sure you know what this is before you dial as they vary greatly from 10p t £1.50+ so if you are making multiple phone calls this can add up to a hefty bill.
