No calls to 0345 numbers are not free. However they tend to be included in call packages as numbers you are able to call without paying extra charges. It is worth checking with your provider to see if these numbers are free to call or if they will charge you for calls to these numbers. If they are not included in your phone tariff they are charged at a rate of around 9p per minute depending on who your provider is. 0345 numbers are a special type of landline-rate phone number bought mainly by businesses but also by government bodies and public sector organisations. These numbers are not linked to a specific location. All numbers that start with 03, 01 and 02 are usually charged at the same standard landline rate. This is due to Ofcom regulation stating that 03, 01 and 02 numbers all have to be treated equally. This applies whether you are using a mobile or landline to call these numbers. The price of calling these numbers may vary depending on the time of day you call them (i.e. If you call in the middle of the night the charge may be slightly higher than if you call in the middle of the day).
