Three Mobile call costs to 02 Numbers
Calling standard UK landline numbers (including those beginning with 02 e.g. London numbers) from a Three Mobile depends on your plan type and whether you have inclusive minutes remaining.
But what does that mean? Let’s take a closer look…
If you have a ‘Pay Monthly’ plan
Your plan likely includes inclusive minutes that cover calls to standard UK numbers including 01, 02 and most 03 ranges. If you still have inclusive minutes left, calls to 02 numbers won’t cost extra.
However, if you’ve used up your inclusive minutes, out-of-bundle charges apply.
If you’re on Pay As You Go (PAYG)
If you’re on PAYG and not on a monthly bundle Three’s standard base rate for calls to 02 numbers is very low. PAYG customers pay per minute without inclusive minutes.
Note on Ofcom rules
Calls to 03 numbers must cost no more than calls to 01/02 numbers and are included in any inclusive minute allowance in the same way (so they’re not more expensive than calling 02).
Three Mobile Calls to 02 Numbers
| Plan Type | Cost to Call 02 Numbers (UK) |
| Pay Monthly with ‘Inclusive Minutes’ remaining | Included i.e. no extra charge |
| Pay Monthly with no inclusive minutes left | Approx £0.35/min (typical out-of-bundle rate) |
| Pay As You Go (PAYG) | £0.03/min standard rate |
| Freephone Numbers (0800/0808) | Free (UK mobiles & landlines) |
| 03 Numbers | Included as 01/02 calls (inclusive minutes apply) |
Important: Your actual charges may vary by exact tariff & plan structure. Always check your current Three price guide or your account breakdown for personalised rates.
Useful UK call pricing rules to remember:
- Calls to 03 numbers (e.g. 0300, 0330, 0345) count the same as calling 01/02 and should be included in inclusive minutes. As they’re capped, you never pay more than a geographic call.
- Freephone 0800 and 0808 calls are free from all UK mobiles and landlines (free for the caller).
- Premium numbers (09, 118 services, etc.) cost substantially more (with an access charge plus service charge). So, always check before dialing!
Why it matters
Even though many plans include calls to 02 numbers in their inclusive minutes, not all do – out-of-bundle charges can appear if you go over your allowance. With inflationary changes and mid-contract price rises rolling through UK networks from 2025, it’s more important than ever to check your tariff details rather than assume all calls are included.
