About the Bakery
Sarah’s small local bakery ‘The Cake Studio’ started out with her making sweet treats for family & friends’ birthdays and celebrations – all baked from her home kitchen. With requests beginning to stretch beyond her social circle and turning into actual orders rather than favours, it soon became clear that a business was being born. Coupled with her new business, Sarah had just become a proud new mum. Life was changing and this was the beginning of an exciting venture.
The Challenge
As a new mum, Sarah often didn’t seem to have enough hours in the day or enough hands to juggle childcare and business calls. Having a work schedule which worked around motherhood and customers was paramount. What’s more, ensuring Sarah didn’t miss calls was essential as missed calls = missed orders. It was clear that Sarah needed help with time and call management. Creating a work/life balance on a small business budget whilst maintaining a professional look were the ingredients she needed.
The Solution
Keeping her mobile number free for family and friends was important. Creating a local feel was also exactly what Sarah needed.
The Solution to this was to issue a separate business number…Sarah was popular within her local area of York, plus she didn’t want to deliver too far afield and so a York 01904 prefix suited her perfectly. This new number routed into Sarah’s mobile and thankfully she didn’t have to buy an additional phone – plus she was still able to use her regular mobile number as normal.
Our ‘call whisper’ feature notified Sarah when calls were coming in from potential customers rather than family or friends.
When Sarah was unable to answer calls, our Voice2Email feature greeted callers with a professional message and then invited them to leave a message which were delivered in real time to Sarah’s email.
The greeting could be changed at any time and Sarah now often adds promotions in her recordings such as Christmas cake offers or birthday discounts.
The Outcome
Overall, Sarah was reassured that when she was happily baking or looking after her baby, that callers (customers) are happy their call is being dealt with. There is no danger of missing any potential orders. A local phone number reinforced ‘The Cake Studio’s local presence and with calls scheduled to come through during scheduled hours, it is possible to focus on what Sarah needed to, when she needed to.
